Bendigo Wine Makers
Chateau Leamon
Chateau Leamon was established by the Leamon family after the purchase of a small mixed farm in 1972. The fencing was removed and the property was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Semillon and Riesling in 1973.
Chateau Leamon was the 3rd winery (after Balgownie and Water Wheel) to establish itself in Bendigo during this renaissance period of the Australian wine industry.
The first vintage resulted in immediate success, as the 1977 Cabernet Sauvignon won the Small Winemakers Trophy at the National Wine Show.
Today, Chateau Leamon is owned and operated by winemaker Ian Leamon and his mother Alma Leamon. They produce excellent full bodied red wines, their reserve wines are especially well sought after. Both the Rielsing and Semillon are elegant wines. These wines are available at selected bottle shops - Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. Both red and white wines are exported to several overseas destinations.
