Belvoir Park

Situated at the southern end of the Bendigo Region in prime red wine growing country, Belvoir Park Estate is an easy 1 ½  hrs drive from the outskirts of Melbourne.

When the property was first settled it was named after Belvoir castle, as the countryside reminded the owner of the view he had over the castle from his home in England, Belvoir literally translating to “beautiful view”.

Ian & Julie Hall now own the property and planted 6 acres of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon in 1997.  History reveals that two of Ian’s ancestors were knighted at Belvoir castle (and they more than likely shared his passion for wine!).

Vines on the estate get the attention they deserve with meticulous hand pruning and hand picking.

Vineyard management incorporates organic-style viticultural practices and, due to the natural ventilation of the site, only a minimal spray program is required.

Soil moisture is closely monitored and very little drip irrigation is used.  Along with a little help from spring frosts, this ensures the cropping levels are kept very low, averaging less than 2 tonnes per acre.

After a long slow ripening period the small berries are intensely rich in fruit flavours and are processed on-site by traditional winemaking techniques.  Our wines are fermented in small lots in open vats and are hand-plunged and basket-pressed to maximise their potential.  They are then matured in the finest quality American and French oak for 12 months.

The winery features Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot crafted using traditional wine making practices.

These rich full-bodied wines reflect minimal intervention winemaking philosophies and are unfiltered to maximise colour and flavour

Wines are available direct via the vineyard or through fine wine merchants and selected restaurants.
