Bendigo Wine Makers
Pondalowie
“Arguably making some of Australia’s top drops…” Wine International Magazine, March 2005
Drawing on their winemaking experiences from France, Portugal and Australia, Dominic and Krystina Morris produce handcrafted premium red and fortified wines using Tempranillo, Shiraz, Cabernet, Malbec and Viognier grapes grown at their Bridgewater on Loddon vineyard, located just 40kms west of Bendigo on the Calder Highway. Pondalowie wines are rich in fruit flavours and exude the characters of the grape variety and the Bendigo region. They are regular winners of awards and top reviews from national and international wine critics.
Both Dominic and Krystina have strong wine industry backgrounds. Krystina has a degree in Oenology (Winemaking) from Adelaide University and has worked as a winemaker in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and in the Alentejo and Douro regions of Portugal. Dominic studied wine marketing before deciding to learn more about wine production by working vintages in the Alentajo and Douro regions of Portugal as well as a vintage in Burgundy. The transition to winemaking was a successful one and he has worked successive vintages in Australia and Portugal since 1995.
