Turners Crossing Shiraz Voignier 2006

24 March 2009

It may not be the most fashionable region in Victoria, but for sheer depth and generosity of flavour, Bendigo takes a bit of beating.  The currently available Turners Crossing reds are absolute crackers: it's never easy to capture such lovely rich, ripe grape flavours within such perfectly poised and polished structures, but this winery does it with a rare aplomb.  In this case, the 5 per cent voignier adds an intriguing tang of apricot and sweet spice to the essential blackberry flavour of the shiraz.  Genuine lipsmacker.   *****
