Mandurang Valley Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

25 January 2006

This red I cracked open tonight is a really lovely red wine made by a Bendigo winemaker called Wes Vine (what else could he be destined to be in life!).

With a gorgeous inky deep purply crimson look, this is an elegant fruit driven wine with intensity and concentration. Loads of deep cherry, intense blackberry, mulberry and plum (yum).

It is an ample bodied style with plenty of ripe fruit but with smooth fine tannins that deliver a lingering length yet in a refined manner.

Have this with baked lamb rump marinated with red wine. An excellent wine at around $22 that should cellar at least 5-7 years.
