Bendigo Wines Go To Federation Square

03 July 2007

Media Release

Nineteen Bendigo wineries will be heading to Melbourne tomorrow for the annual Bendigo Region event as part of the Federation Square Wine Regions Showcase.

The wineries will be offering tastings to a large crowd of savvy, wine enthusiasts in a stunning setting within the Federation Square complex. The tasting sessions will be held over two evenings, Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th July from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.

Wine lovers have the opportunity to explore one of Victoria's different wine regions every month. The showcase series allows a Melbourne audience to taste leading wines, meet the winemakers, learn about the wines, and judge the "People's Choice" for the Best Wines - all from the very heart of Melbourne at Federation Square.

The showcase series is supported by the Department of Regional Development and Tourism Victoria and sponsored by "What’s On Victoria".

Bendigo wineries have always been thrilled by the success of these events and are encouraged each time by the large, discerning wine crowds that attend.

The Bendigo Region is acclaimed for full-bodied, ripe red wines. Crowds can warm up with tastings of Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot and for white wine enthusiasts there will be Chardonnay, Riesling and Viognier on offer.

Tasting tickets for this event are $15 per person. In addition, tickets for Bendigo’s next wine event, Bendigo Heritage Uncorked, will be launched and on sale from Federation Square at this event for the first time. There will be many great opportunities for this Melbourne market to discover the fabulous wines from Bendigo.
