Bendigo Wine Region News
Wine Results from Federation Square 2007
21 September 2007
The
overall wine results are just in for the 2007 Federation Square Wine Regions Showcase. Wine lovers had the opportunity to explore one
of Victoria's different wine regions every month
throughout 2007 and in July the Bendigo Wine region was profiled.
The
showcase series allows a Melbourne audience to taste leading wines, meet the
winemakers and learn about the wines. A panel of judges scored the Bendigo wines
entered by participating wineries. The scores are now available, bringing some
great results for Bendigo.
Five
Bendigo wines received an impressive score of 17
out of 20 from this emerging wine clientele.
These wines included Balgownie Estate Cabernet Merlot 2005, Harcourt
Valley Riesling 2006, Passing Clouds Shiraz 2004, Sandhurst Ridge Sauvignon
Blanc 2006 and Turners Crossing The Cut Shiraz 2004.
Another
five wines scored 16 out of 20 including BlackJack Shiraz 2005, Harcourt Valley
Chardonnay 2006, Langanook Chardonnay Viognier 2005, Rivergate Shiraz 2002 and Turners
Crossing Shiraz 2005.
A
further twelve wines received 15 out of 20 with wineries including Balgownie
Estate, Belvoir Park, Blamires Butterfly Crossing, Burnt Acre, Chaperon,
Harcourt Valley, Passing Clouds, Rivergate and Turners Crossing.
The
showcase series is supported by the Department of Regional Development and
Tourism Victoria and sponsored by "What’s On
Victoria". For more information contact Aileen Walsh on 0407 706769.
