Mandurang Valley Wines to China

12 September 2007

Mandurang Valley Wines has just secured a lucrative contract to export wine to the Chinese city of Nanjing.

Wes Vine of Mandurang Valley Wines said, “The contract was the result of two months of negotiations with the importer."

The shipment of 400 cases of 2004 Shiraz and 100 cases of 2005 Riesling to China will represent 25 per cent of the company’s annual sales. The medium-sized winery has operated commercially since 1993 and this is the first time that the family-run business has exported its wine.

In China the wine is destined to stock the shelves of the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel chain, with visits from three hotel managers to the Bendigo winery in the past eight weeks.

Mr Vine said, “Bendigo Bank supported him during the negotiation process." He was also grateful to local Bendigo Councillor Greg Williams, who initially took samples of Mandurang Valley wine to China on a visit two months ago.
