From the President,
Bendigo Winegrowers Association
The winegrowers in our region have reported great growing conditions with early indications of a fantastic 2015 vintage.
Harvest started early for many winegrowers, mostly due to the combination of warm days and cool nights that ripened the fruit perfectly.
Winemakers are reporting sensational colour in their red wines, a lovely depth of flavour and concentrated fruit flavours, with all varieties performing well.
Winegrowers have experienced a disease free growing season mostly due to the warm and dry conditions over summer. This had a positive impact on the quality and quantity of the fruit picked.
This year yields amongst the vineyards are quite varied with most winegrowers reporting average to above average yields.
All in all, the growing season, with a marked lack of long periods of extreme heat, has been ideal for growing and ripening quality fruit. Bendigo winegrowers are looking at 2015 as another “dream” vintage.
